Abstract. PSR J0537 −--6910 is a young, energetic, rotation-powered X-ray pulsar with a spin period of 16 ms located in the Large Magellanic Cloud. We have searched for previously undetected radio pulsations (both giant and standard) from this pulsar in a 12-hour observation taken at 1400 MHz with the Parkes 64-m radio telescope. Here's how to get those travel vibes without leaving town. We conclude that PSR J0726-2612 is indeed an example of a young INS, one that started with a magnetic field strength on the low end of those inferred for the INSs, and that, therefore, decayed by a relatively …B s = 1. 0 × 10 12 G, a nd a characteristic age of 8.9 kyr. The pulsar was discovered in a 2002 Chandra X-ray Observatory observation of the source (Murray et al. 2002) and subsequently detected as a radio pulsar (Camilo et al. 2002).It is one of the most energetic pulsars in the Galaxy, …The characteristic age of PSR J1734−3333 estimated from its current spin down rate implies that it is a young pulsar (τ c = 8.1 kyr). However, the time derivative of its spin-down rate differs markedly from that assumed for normal radio pulsars, meaning its actual age is uncertain.Alex Zepka. We discuss PSR J1740+1000, one of five pulsars recently discovered in a search of 470 square degrees at 430 MHz during the upgrade of the 305-m Arecibo telescope. The period of 154 ms ...Because no glitches were found in the latest 7.1 yr of timing data, this extends the time without a detected glitch for PSR B1509−58 to 28.4 yr. While the youngest pulsars (τ c < 2 kyr) tend to have smaller and fewer glitches than somewhat older pulsars (τ c ∼ 5–10 kyr), PSR B1509−58 is extreme in its lack of glitches. The thresholds are 10 c s −1 for PSR J0537−6910, 4.5 c s −1 for PSR J1412+7922, and 5 c s −1 for PSR J1849−0001, and they are the same as previously used in Ho et al. for PSR J0537−6910 and in Bogdanov et al. for PSR J1412+7922 and PSR J1849−0001. Using these filtering criteria, we obtain clean data for pulse timing analysis. The pulsar's spin-down rate implies a rotation-powered luminosity E-dot = 1.2x10{sup 38} erg s{sup -1}, a surface dipole magnetic field strength B{sub s} = 1.0 x 10{sup 12} G, and a characteristic age of 8.9 kyr. The "k" is the unit prefix for kilo- or thousand with the suffix "yr" simply an abbreviation for "year". Occasionally, the "k" is shown in upper case, as in "100 Kyr ...The characteristic age of PSR J1734−3333 estimated from its current spin down rate implies that it is a young pulsar ( τ c = 8.1 kyr). These parameters imply τ c =85 kyr, and B=5.5×10 13 G, the largest of any known radio pulsar. Both PSR J1119-6127 and PSR J1814-1744 show apparently normal radio emission in a regime of magnetic field strength where some models predict that no emission should occur. The age of PSR J1814[1744, if P > P and n \ 3, Especially noteworthy is the proximity of PSR 0 is 85 kyr.
